Help me with my rig - drop C tuning

In 1965 a guitarist from Birmingham, England was injured in a factory accident on what was to be his last day at the job. The injury cut the tips of his ring and middle fingers on his fretting hand completely off. Instead of giving up playing, the guitarist fashioned little plastic and leather "thimbles" to put on the tips of his injured fingers. The guitarist was able to resume playing, but he still suffered nearly unbearable pain. In order to make playing less painful, he detuned his guitar down to as low as C# and resumed what would go on to be a very successful career as guitarist for a popular and influential band.

The guitarist? Tony Iommi

The band? Black Sabbath.

That is the best way to explain why I, and millions of other dudes like me, detune. :smug:

***!? You guys ALL cut the tips of your fingers off? Is that a coincidence or should we alert OSHA!? :D

hey, first off just wanna say that the banner are great, played a show with you guys a while back when you were in the UK, possibly with Himsa or something.

Anyways, just like to say, maybe you should get the 8x10 checked out. It shouldn't be distorting like it is. I play in a grindcore band in drop A - Drop G (sometimes) and I have never come across that.

Ampeg cabs, regardless of age or what other people will say, they are tanks, you could chuck them around and down stairs etc, and 9 out of 10 times will survive the fall and still work completely fine.

Maybe you are driving the amp too hard? Its not a very powerful head. Or maybe too much gain on the input as it is a stingray you are using?

anyways, dont be so quick to get rid of the 8x10, they are great and last a long long time. Just get her checked out.

Cheers

scott

Are you able to intonate a 4 string when its Drop tunned to a low C???

My 8th fret on the E string is slightly out when I'm in C

Also Deffinately get new strings, I have medium gage pro steels. But becuse When I put them on I only tuned them to drop C they aren't floppy at all, just really tight when I tune up.

My Marshall 410 easily handles around F# tuning.

Quickly, to justincest - hey man, haven't had the internet in a few days so I just read your post and got your message on myspace. Sorry about that, last night was a lot of fun though.

To everyone else, I changed my strings last night finally (for the first time in I don't know how long) which I honestly believe was the problem. I've been on tour so long and playing so often I honestly just forget about them. I'm also too broke to afford new strings :hmm:

Thanks for the advice though guys - I messed with my EQ some last night, adjusted the controls on my distortion pedal and I think I've finally got a tone that I'm happy with... for now hahaha.
