Help! My bass just lost it's nut!!!

So I was changing the strings on my Traben 5 string and when I took off the strings the brass nut just fell off. It's probably been hanging on for years by string tension alone. My question is do I glue it back on? If so what glue and do I need clamps etc.?

white glue? My nuts hang by string tension alone. I'm sure there is a better way though.

Yes, white glue works fine. I've had this problem before and white glue worked perfectly.

Superglue should work too. Good luck if you ever want to get it off though.

Do you need to glue it back on? Just have string tension hold it in, I believe it won't make a difference except for when you take the strings off.
