Help needed with guitar FX

Hi,

I have a friend that has a box full of guitar pedals and i need to buy some fx for my pedalboard...he is selling them cheap the thing is..Do guitar pedals work for bass guitar ...i mean i have a guitar whammy but i dont know if the other pedals can handle the low frequencies...
Can somebody help me with this?

All pedals can 'handle' the low frequencies. No damage will be done. Although it's just not guaranteed that it will sound good. Most effects that people use are designed for guitar anyway. I don't own any bass specific pedals and never have; and I'm doing fine.

That depends on what kind of pedals they are. I know there are some distortion pedals that work well on bass. and there are some distortion pedals that'll make you loose low-ends. if that ever happens, it's usually a good idea to purchase a blender pedal. the boss ls-2 would be a good choice. it's affordable and it can help you blend your sound. I know there are chorus pedals that works real good on bass. danelectro is one of them, digitech is another, and of course electro-harmonix. if low-end losses is a concern, a blender pedal can help you with that.

+1. The important thing is that you play around with them a whole bunch BEFORE comitting to buying them. It's pretty danged hard to tell if it will sound good without hearing it.
