Help. New cables

Hey everybody. Looking for some advice. I'm looking for some new instrument cables. I've read so many mixed reviews on so many brands and I can't come to a conclusion. I'm looking for something reliable, solid, hard to break, and something with one angled jack. Reasonably priced. Warranty preferred.

Planet Waves is all I use. I prefer the circuit breaker cables which allow me to cut the signal between instrument changes. Plus they are guaranteed FOR LIFE. If it malfunctions just send it to D'Addario and they'll send you a new one within just a few days.

+1 on soldering your own. that's what I started to do when i realized how much it was gonna cost to buy all the cables and backup cables i needed to connect a fairly simple rig.
If I was to purchase a cable it would most likely be the planet waves, great for the money. I also like dimarzio for the same reason.

If you live close to a Guitar Center, Live Wire Elite Series. Supossedly, they are made by Mogami and rebranded to be sold at GC (I have no way to verify if that is true). This also means that GC is warranting it and that they will have it in stock more readily than other cable manufacturers. Which should make it easily returnable, even if on the road.

I like the Monster cables. They have a lifetime warranty(but most good cables do) but honestly I buy them because they seem to me to be the toughest. I'm not always the easiest on my gear, and I'd rather pay $30 once for a cable than $15 every 3 months because I keep busting through them. Be aware that Monster plugs have a very slightly wider diameter than most instrument cables and as a result I've heard switching back in the future can cause other plugs to seem loose in your input jacks(because of "stretching" from the monsters). I never plan to switch back, and I like the snug fit of the wider plugs, so that's no big deal to me.

Haha, can't say that surprises me. Like I said I don't buy them because I think I'm getting some sort of crazy signal quality. I just like the fact that they have heavy duty injection molding and are very sturdy.

Wasn't really directing it at you, just saying that sound wise it doesn't really matter all that much what you use. You can quite literally use a coat hanger.

So as long as it's sturdy it'll sound the same as any other instrument cable, and will do the job fine.

Hey James,
thanks for mentioning us in this thread, greatly appreciated.

Here is a link to our intrument cable page, we have a few different flavors depending on what you are after, James like the Premiere 4E6 because it has a little atenuation in the high end. I personally like the Patriot SX because is has a beautiful top end to it without being spiky.

Remember that cost and quality aren't always connected. And sound and playabilty aren't always part and parcel.

I like GeorgeLs, But I use Planet
Waves because they were on sale and they don't have a killer materail memory like the Georges do.

And if I'm using a longer cable to connect to a board or an amp I try to use a wireless just so I don't trip over the wire.
