help on new pup

Ok so i just installed the spb-3 on my ibanez bass...replaced the pots and cap as well...but am not really finding that p bass tone i was looking for....how does a spb-1 compare? I have an offer to trade my spb3 for the 1.....from what ive heard, its more of a vintage p bass tone.....current pot/cap set up is CTS 250K and orange drop .047

You'd probably be better off replacing the pickups..or the bass. You're trying to make an Ibanez sound like a vintage Fender?

I'm also concerned about your comment where you 'replaced the cap'. What do you mean?

Im just having fun with this project "build a p bass on a budget" ...its an ibanez trb50(1994)....bottom line beginner bass i got for free...its a p styled bass so i figured why not....when i said cap i meant capacitor....i just put the spb 3 basslines in it and am finding that i am looking for a bassyer tone so far..so i am exploring my options on the spb-1 and spb-2 to see what others have said...

So sorry, my bad as I was confused. I read you wrong!

You said 'spb-3' and I read 'opb-3' as in the Aguilar active preamp system. Doesn't help that they also have obp-2 and obp-1 so I thought you were talking about preamps, which is why the 'replacing the cap' confused me. Sorry!

But yeah the spb-1 will definitely be more vintage sounding. That being said, I love my spb-3..but I also love high output pickups :)
