Help on wiring Ray34 with Nordy 2b-mm

Hi folks, I’m running into a question trying to install the 2B- MM preamp on a sterling 34 bass and realizing, while I can usually follow schematics, I don’t actually understand wiring. The preamp for this bass has a black and a white wire. The schematics that came with the preamp show one connection to the pickup. Can anyone help me determine where the to pickup wires connect to the preamp? Schematic attached and thank you in advance. Sorry for the dumb question.

You want to connect the current pickup to the new preamp? How is the current pickup wired? There should be one wire connected to the existing preamp, that goes to the yellow wire. There should be one wire connected to a ground point, that stays grounded. You might not even need to move the ground wire depending on how MM attached it.

Great, thanks for the tip! The bass came in parts without a preamp, so I want able to see how it was wired previously

As long as it’s just one pickup there’s nothing to be out of phase with so I’d probably hook the white to the preamp yellow and black to your ground point. Note that the ground point is not the ring terminal on the output jack where the battery negative hooks to. That should only have the battery negative.

just wanted to follow up to let you know that the preamp wiring was a success! I had wired it up last weekend, but had some funny buzzing that went away when I swapped the 9 V yesterday. Greatly appreciate your time and input.
