Help...one volume, two tones, phase switch & series/parallel switch...

My bro wants a phase switch, a series/parallel switch, a master volume, two tones and a toggle switch to select the pickups. I've worked everything out and tested it and it all works beautifully except the series/parallel switch. How the hell does one do this? Anyone know?

I'm using a les paul style toggle switch for selecting between the pickups, and have push/pulls for the tone pots. I've currently got the bridge tone push/pull wired for phase, but I can't get the series parallel to work.

If it had two volume pots, this would be a no-brainer, but he insists upon a master volume. I've searched and searched, but I still have not found an example. Please help an old man sleep tonight...
 
You need a 3PDT to route the signal from the PU toward the balance pot in one position and bypass it while connecting one signal and one ground in the other position.

No, you don't. And there's no balance pot either.

You may want to flip the push/pull switches upside down, depending on what state you want them in when pushed and/or pulled. And don't take my word for the lug allocation on the pots, either. Anyway, if it's unclear, the lefthand pickup and tone pot are the bridge ones, the righthand the neck ones.

Oh, and ground the tone pots, but not to one of their lugs as usual; that would disrupt the signal paths.

Thanks for that, I'll have to test it this weekend. My only concern with the above drawing is the use of the DPDT in the center switch. The Les-paul style toggle is a SPDT, but since the extra lugs aren't used in the above diagram, I think it should work. I'll post the results.

Hm. I got the impression Les paul switches generally are dpdt's...and no, I don't think this one will work with a spdt. You don't want a connection between the two pickups inside the selector switch, that'd probably **** up both the phase AND the series/parallel wirings.

That says it's double pole. Could be that they're just never (traditionally) USED as dpdt's, that the extra pole is just used as a, well, extra, a double connection, a safeguard.

I dunno.
 
Looked at some close up pictures of lp switches.

I can't be sure without tinkering with it myself, but it looks like there are 4 connectors on one side (and one ground connector on the other); these 4 are usually wired, left to right (or whatever):
1=bridge pickup (or bridge pickup volume)
2+3=master volume (or hot output)
4=neck pickup (or neck pickup volume)

What I think you need to do, is disconnect lugs 2 and 3 from each other, and wire it thusly:
1=bridge pickup
2=phase switch
3=neck pickup/neck pickup volume
4=series/parallel switch.

But, you'd best check the workings of the switch first; make sure that, in the middle position, lug 1 is connected to 2, and 3 to 4, and that 2&3 (and 1&4) aren't connected.
