Another guy has offered to sell me his crate bt 50 bass amp for $200. Would that be a good buy?
It would be a great buy if he gave you $200 to take it off his hands...
I'd pretty much avoid Crate unless you got it as a gift, and even then - you might wonder why the gift giver doesn't like you enough to give you a decent amp.
Oh, and for all of you Crate aficionados...that's just my opinion.
Ok thanks for that, I guess I'll stick to ones made by better companies then.
I can't endorse the Fender B-DEC 30 enough. I'd consider myself a "learning advanced intermediate" bassist, and the B-DEC has enough flexibility and built-in lessons, that it will improve about any player. It can also be used as a regular practice amp if you don't want to use all the features.
I know you don't live in SoCal, but there's a guy selling one in SanDiego asking $270 ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]). That means you can get it for something less than that. Keep your eyes out on the local Craigslist and eBay and you'll find one before long for under your $300 price point.
Trust me, you'll be happy with it!
The latest version of that Crate sounds actually very decent. But, I bought the BT-220 (220 watts instead of 50) for $200 when they were on clearance at GC. The BT-50 sounded much better than the Fender Rumble 100, and it sounded louder as well.
So, it's a decent amp, but for that money, the Ampeg would be better - and you can find one used. I also stand by my recommendation of a used Behringer head and cab. At least that head. Hard to beat. Anyhow, good luck!
I have a Fender rumble I spent about $300 on.....great sound and quality for a budget bass amp. It is availabe as a 15 watt 1x8, a 25 watt 1x10, a 60 watt 1x12, and 100 watt as either a 2x10 or 1x15. I have the 100 watt 1x15, and it was definetly worth what I spent on it.
Does anyone know anything about this Fender? The plate on the back of the cab reads:
Speaker Enclosure
Model: V.T. Bassman 15
Serial Number: (can't read it, the pic is too blurry)
Speaker Impedance: 8 OHMS
Total Impedance: 4 OHMS
Then is says Fender Musical Instruments. Finally, it lists a place in California as it's place of origin. The text is blurry in the pic, it looks to say something like Fullerton, California - U.S.A , but I am unsure of the exact text due to the picture quality.
Well, I'm very new to bass guitar, I've played electric guitar for a bit but decided to give bass a try. Unfortunately I only have a small, 15W practice amp for my electric guitar. I am looking to get an amp that I can use with my bass, or preferably with both. I have seen a fair number of Peavey amps for sale in my area, and am wondering if they would work with both my electric and bass guitars. I have looked at a Peavey Classic Chorus 130, but am not sure if that would work. If anyone can help me out, it would be very much appreciated. I just want an amp that can do my bass (and hopefully guitar too) justice. I've got around $300 to spend, and am mostly looking at used ones. However, if anyone knows of a good amp I could get new for that price that would be great. Thanks everyone![]()
