I agree. Going to a store and trying some out is the key. You might find one you really like, sound, action, weight, colour... I once tried two P-Basses at the same time, same Bass just a different colour and one of them, to me, was way better than the other. The other one was really heavy, had high action and didn't have that classic P-Bass sound that I like. It was all low end and didn't have that high end of an MIA P-Bass, but the one I bought was perfect for me. Booming low end and snappy high end. So, trying them first is a good thing.

I wasn't thrilled with my P bass many years ago so I went to a local used music store and tried out about 10 P basses. They all sounded and played differently, even the ones that were the same model. I love the internet, but it's not good for finding your dream bass. You're just looking at pictures and listening to someone else's preferred sound.

I saw an interview with Geddy Lee once and they asked him why he owns over 250 Basses. He said because they all sound and play different. They all have different personalities.

I totally agree. Unfortunately their isn't anywhere that has guitars. Called one place they had a jackson js3 and a bc rich warlock. Didnt want to waste a day going there.
