HELP! Purchased bass from GC that was mislabled

Six pages in... have GC responded to OP yet? These TB threads always seem to get weird and semi-hostile when there is a vacuum of actual information going on. If GC turn round and say "no refund loser, caveat emptor, h8rs gon h8 xxx' then fair enough, but until that time there isn't really a lot to report, right?

Cort making an Elrick design isn't that different to Cort making the Curbow design, or Epiphone making a Tobias design. Just don't expect to pay the price of the originals for the overseas CNC'd equivalent.

Back on page three, yesterday, I believe he said the bass has been returned.

I know you think you know everything, but that is clearly not the case...

No, I don't think that. I made an uninformed assumption.
Shame on me, right?
or shame on you for attacking me like this

Lie, misrepresentation of the facts or ignorance, which is your crime?

I made an uninformed assumption, and that's not a crime.
Obviously you were alluding to the collaboration of Cort to make this very similar instrument, but why didn't you just say so?
A few people pointed it out already, so I went back & edited my post so I won't get attacked like this again, hopefully.

Cort is like the OLP of yore...it may resemble the original, may even play decent enough, but sure isn't the same nor as valuable as the original. A Cort Curbow bass sure isn't the same as a Curbow bass for example, but hey, nothing against Cort - there's a market for them and they're given the approval by the luthier.

Good thing Guitar Center has the return policy - the store may try to charge you a restocking fee, but you can point out that they tried to sell it as an Elrick and it was an error on their part. No biggie. If you still like the bass, have them refund you the difference in price. A Cort Elrick for sure isn't going for $1300 .

I've never been charged a restocking fee at GC & I've returned my fair share of stuff.

I'm surprised Cort would make a bass that looks so uncannily like that Elrick, but OTOH
I've got an Ibanez guitar that looks almost exactly like the Japanese made Prestige model, the immediately noticeable exceptions being the pickup rings & knobs being chrome instead of cosmo black
oh, and on a closer inspection the bridge & neck are different

Welcome to TalkBass! You get a free pass for your first mistake... the second will cost you...

... repeated playings of the Barney Miller bass intro... out of tune... with old, dirty strings... a single, swinging lamp over your head, not even close to acting like a metronome...

... you don't want to make a second one...

... oh, and welcome to TalkBass, again.
