HELP! Purchased bass from GC that was mislabled

The "design divas" here crack me up. Some of the best basses I own have some design feature, such as headstock, that I may not have thought was the most beautiful design choice. But as an owner of an Elrick Gold series 4. I can tell you I haven't thought about how it looks since I picked it up. Other than I think it's a superb instrument from top to bottom. Looks/design included. A fiver is on my list of must haves. And this is from a guy that has owned a but load of basses in 50 years and currently have some nice ones, i.e: Tobias, Minnieweather, Jerzy Drozd, Tune, Ken Smith, etc.

Cool, I often miss the cliffs at the beach. And now that you mention it, I believe S.H. has his favorite teams' logo on one of his basses IIRC correctly.

It's still an ugly headstock.

No, they don't. A keen eye can make out very well with GC's used content. I've taken advantage of it numerous times.

I sold a used Fodera at a profit that I bought from them, among other things. I also bought three Surine custom basses for between $900-$1,100. And so on.

I agree... if a bass is killing my objections to cosmetics/ esthetics typically fall to the wayside. Like my Eshenbaugh... its headstock is quirky yet has grown on me.

Granted I have yet to play a killing pointy bass.

I would definitely return it. That bass is a 2002 Cort JPS5. Brand new it had a MAP price of $799.99. On the used market, it is selling for around $400.00 to $500.00 at the most. Unless that Guitar Center wants to take about 1K off the price, I would take it back.

You don't see any problem with overpaying by several hundred dollars?

I saw a Dean Custom Zone at my Guitar Center with a $337 price tag on it...I told them about the mistake but I bet it's still like that

My first guitar was a used Epiphone LP from the Guitar Center Used website. I posted the picture on Reddit, and someone was like "Congrats on the new guitar, but looks like it's actually not a Standard Plus Top, just a normal Standard. Are the knobs push-pull?" or something like that. Several other people helped diagnose it, and it definitely was the cheaper Standard.

Because Guitar center online is not centralized, I contacted the store manager via email, attached pictures of the guitar and proof that it was mislabeled. He apologized, and quickly issued me a check for $150 (the difference between the Standard and the Standard PlusTop, I guess?) I ended up getting a nice Standard Epi LP for $150 though, so in the end I wasn't so mad :)

So I am a native San Diegan. Born and raised in East County. Mainly El Cajon and Lakeside. I had never heard of Thad's before so I had to google search it. I didn't even know there were actual businesses that do that. I now want to troll them and ask if someone is allowed to bring a goat? They may think I'm serious though and I may even be more shocked by the answer.

Like the used yamaha bass they have now for $299? That costs $299 NEW...

They'll probably offer to let you keep it for a partial refund or take it back. If you really like the bass, go for the refund, as long as it's big enough. They have done this for me.

Used or new, some incredible deals can be found at Guitar Center.
In fact, the GC in Albuquerque shipped my SB-2 to my local GC even though it was a layaway item and I still owed $400!

As mentioned, 45-day refund policy.
Easy returns and plenty more incredible deals on basses every day of the week. I could walk into any of the three Guitar Centers I frequent and find a great bass and probably find a dozen online tight now.
