HELP! Purchased bass from GC that was mislabled

Hey guys, so I think I screwed up yesterday.

I found a used Elrick Expat bass at Guitar Center that I really liked. I'm not familiar with the brand but I trusted the GC labeling.

Turns out, it is not an Elrick but a Cort replica.

Here is the ad: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

And here are some additional photos and serial #:

I'm having trouble finding info on this particular bass, can anyone help me identify what I actually have?

And if it is NOT an Elrick, what is the actual value?

Welcome to TalkBass! You get a free pass for your first mistake... the second will cost you...

... repeated playings of the Barney Miller bass intro... out of tune... with old, dirty strings... a single, swinging lamp over your head, not even close to acting like a metronome...

... you don't want to make a second one...

... oh, and welcome to TalkBass, again.

Like the used yamaha bass they have now for $299? That costs $299 NEW...

Exactly. You focus on that while others find the crazy deals. You get what you want and so do we.
:D

While you're looking at $300 basses for $300 I find things like my 1978 Fender Jazz in great condition for $1,100.

They clearly don't overpriced ALL gear but thanks for showing me your "proof".
;)

Can we just concede that you get all the great deals, leaving the rest of us the overpriced junk? It would save us some time. ;)

Yeah, good deals can be found. There's even a thread here to point some out: Guitar Center used site

It's a very dangerous thread when you have GAS.

I don't get ALL of the great deals, that's stupid. I do get a lot. Other people clearly get some too. As such... there are great deals to be had unless you don't know what you're looking at. Hope that clears things up for those having difficulty with this simple point.

wow, that really sucks!! but I guess what im having a hard time understanding is how does anyone fall for price tricks like that that now a days, with google / Bass sites like talkbass etc. around! well lesson to be learned from it would be do your home work before buying it not after!

These "can I return it questions always baffle me." You're the customer. If there is a question of product being defective or not as advertised, of course you can return it. You have the power. They want your business, and an unhappy customer is an ex-customer. Smile and be nice, give a simple explanation, treat people like human beings, and you won't experience any trouble.

I traded in a mint condition pedal with the original box and when I went back in I noticed it for sale as if it were new.
This right here, along with many other similar instances that have been discussed on TB should be put together as a "WARNING: GC deceives the buying public" sticky thread at the top of all relevant forum sections.
