help remembering a certain bassist

yeah, i'm not sure if this is the right section to ask this, but...whatever...i'm trying to remeber a name of a bassist i heard about recently...he was quite awesome...he kinda had a jazzy sorta sound...kinda...but the thing that i found very intreging was that the bass was kindof the lead instrument in his songs...yeah, i know thats vague, but....anyhelp would be sweet...so...yeah....i think his name started with an m...maybe even his last name too
