Help! Speaker Cab nightmare!!!

Amp:Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0
600watts @ 4 OHM, 375 watts @ 8 OHM.
Here's the situation, tried to replicate a Bergantino 1-12 inch cabinet. Built a cabinet with specs pretty much is exactly like the Bergantino, bought a speaker & crossover combo that was recommended by Eminence... a Kappalite 3012LF, 550/1100 program watts, 4 ohms...installed everything and speaker sounds blown, farting in flapping on the E & A strings like crazy!!! Replaced that speaker with a new 250/500 program watts, 8 ohm Legend BP 122 speaker thinking I was over driving the other speaker. Does the same thing, flaps like crazy. Isolated the speaker alone without the crossover, doing the same thing! Of course, the head works fine with my 2-15 Hartke 4 ohm cab. I am at my wit's end, the speaker sounds like a snare drum when I hit the E or A string. Any suggestions?
The Cab measurements are 16H x 18W x 13D...pics below.

How long (deep) is that triangular port?

edit: RoadRanger posted while I was typing. If the port is too short, the tuning frequency will be too high, and you'll have fartout on low notes.
I Thought about that, How about the fact that they said it could be used in a sealed cab?
I stuffed the hole with no better outcome. If the port needs to be deeper that could be a problem based on how I "constructed" it.

Thanks. That sounds to me like it's in the ballpark.... assuming 1.8 cubic feet internal volume and 18 square inches port area, I would expect that port length to give you a tuning frequency in the upper 40's.

My best guess at this point is that you have an air leak somewhere.
 
Oh no, it is almost certain that you are driving that speaker to within an inch of its life. IMO, that's WAY too much power for that driver, and add to that the possibility that the box tuning might not be suitable for that driver (I haven't run any calcs.) and it wouldn't surprise me if you were reaching its low frequency mechanical limits at only 300 watts. When I tested that driver, it was not able to survive for 2 hours at 550 watts RMS pink noise (with bass content to 35Hz), I think I ended up around 400-450 watts in order to survive for 200 hours (a much more meaningful time period IMO)

The 8 ohm version would have been a MUCH better choice for your amp (which I designed BTW), about 375 watts at 8 ohms and OVER 600 watts at 4 ohms.

Hope you haven't ruined the driver (another possibility).

So then, what IS the best speaker I should get to match the Shuttle 6.0?
