Help to achieve stereo sound

I'll ask my friend who was mixing the bigger shows; I think capacity was around 250 and at least one was sold out. See my comments on modulated time based effects and Bassmec's about high passing one side (or both) though. The old saw about "only hearing one side" just isn't ncessarily so, IME. I'm not taking about true stereo, I'm talking about mono--> synthesized stereo effects. The better units of that type (ie rack units like many Lexicons) have high pass filtering and wet/dry mixing that translate just fine through the FOH. But even if all of this is just for the player, so is all sorts of other stuff, often including the amp and cab.

Yes the Lexicon was a very good tool and had some great stuff for bass control.
I bet you are getting the mix right though.X
The worst thing is outdoors the bass keeps coming and going and you wonder if it's the wind then you realise it's phase cancelation from some heavy stereo slow phaser the bloke has programmed and you are flipping phase switches and skewing pans about to try to cure it.:-(

Outdoors the mix of direct to reflected sounds at the audience listening positions is likely to be quite a bit different than in say a small club, and a lot the cancellation animations you see online tend to be for what happens outdoors or in very big barns. In any case, there a are a zillion ways to do it wrong and only a handful that work OK, IME. I can't
recall any bass player asking me for a live stereo mix feed of this type since...well, ever. Clean/dirty, Ric-O-Sound, BG/URB, sure, and in all honesty, as a player I myself have only used mono-->stereo mode like we're discussing when I had control of the FOH mix and had time and motivation working in my favor. The OP is mainly looking to do it at home though, so there may easily be only one listening position that matters to him.

DAW plugins are available that are used to convert a mono track to stereo. Here is one inexpensive option: PS22 Mono to Stereo Enhancer Plugin | Waves. Details on how they achieve it are in the downloadable manual.

Another great Wave plugin is Doppler

For a part in a song you can trigger it so it sounds like you're flying by
It's one that you're rarely use, but can be cool in the right situation.
I read the wave sale ends at the end of the month - but they seem to have many of them.

Rotary speaker plugins also sound great from a mono source.
