I need a little advice about wiring up a bass I've recently built, please. I have soldered new pickups in before, but never created a harness from scratch.
I've recently built a new body for a neck I've had for years. I have put a MM pickup in the sweetspot, and wired it up with a pre-wired jazz harness with 250k pots. Each coil is connected to a volume pot, one which serves as a push/pull series switch.
It sounds nice, quick and punchy with one coil turned on, if a tad dark. With both coils on full in parallel, I get a hint of that scooped/crisp parallel sound I was expecting, but it is very muddy/dark.
My plan to gain some of the high end back was to wire a harness with a s/p/s switch, a single 500k tone pot, and to switch to a 500k volume pot. Would this make a noticeable difference in giving me more treble?
