Help with Ampeg 8x10 serial number

I am potentially buying an 8x10 ampeg cab and the guy said the serial number is

BMBDN20004

Can anyone tell me about this? USA made?

"N2" would be Feb 2001. Definitely USA made.

81E = model code?
D = domestic us?
...and "3" should be rather A-Z digit?
Can anyone help me please?

Could you tell me what is the wattage of these speakers? Newer ampeg cabs handle 100W/each, but these older?

The D is the 5th digit, which is the year it was made (starting with 1988). The next digit is the month it was made. So yours was made in March of 91.

The "E" was released for the EASTERN BLOCK COUNTRIES aka the "Polish Market" and the speakers go IN instead of OUT. You'll need to do the battery test to make sure the phasing is correct for USA use is all.

Thanks. What is the difference between phase (pushing IN/OUT)? Very noticeable in sound? I live in Europe and the cabinet is pretty beat up, I bought it in Germany.

PS: Is this cab pushing 400Watts? (50W speakers?)

Bob's joking, but his humor doesn't translate well to German.

And yes, that would be the power rating of those cabs, but that's OK because tonally I like them way better than these newer ones that handle 1000w. Does you no good that I like them better, but that's my opinion

Hm? Looks like Eminence ("67"), "1-91" is the month-year? Any more I can read from this?

So the Amps w/ the 4th Digit "E" in the serial # stands for Eastern Bloc? Is there anymore information on these models? I also have a 91 with an "E" as the 4th digit.

No it doesn't Could stand for Europe, though since the cab isn't affected by the type of electricity going into the head, I don't get why they'd need to make that designation, so I could be wrong

Why have a country code in the serial number? Some companies like to protect sales territories. With a country designation in the serial number, it is clear which country the amp was destined for. This makes it hard to export an amp to another country and get warranty service. For instance, if someone were to import an amp from the US to Europe, a European repair facility might not honor the warranty because it wasn't bought in their territory. I'm not saying that Loud does this, some companies do.
