Help with choosing pedals

Yeah, I know what you mean. But what I often do is fire up the Neuro desktop app and browse other people's sounds. There's a lot of clever people out there publishing amazing things.

Nice! Yeah, I've owned...let me think...six of their pedals over the years? Including the Aftershock and C4 that I still have. The one I really miss now is the programmable EQ. That's a nice piece of kit.

Compressor-wise there is a wealth of knowledge to be found within the forums, and there are options to cover all manner of compression needs, from transparent volume levelling, through to characterful tonal-magic and feel.

I just purchased the Oracle and a pulp n peel v4, next I’m getting the C4. So the chain would look something like Ernie ball Volume/tuner-pulp n’peel-Oracle- C4- Element.

Thanks everyone for all the input, the C4 was a big revelation for me and also getting a good compressor.

Sounds like a nice mini-board! I would personally suggest putting the C4 before the preamp though, both to improve tracking for the C4 and to not lose that sweet Oracle tone anytime you used synth voices. You can also internally route the synth patches to the 2nd output of the C4 and just leave the clean through signal if you want to be able to record multiple tracks to blend together in the DAW.

Here are my recommendations
1) High Pass Filter - Probably not on your list, and it should be. I recommend this for every bassist on Earth. It's a somewhat magic EQ trick that allows you to dial in a sound, but avoid boominess in a room. Put this at the very end of the effects chain.
FDeck and Broughton Audio both offer one for ~$100

2) For the Octave pedal: The EHX POG it's been around forever and there's a good reason. Does both Octave Up and Down

3) Compressor: There are a lot of options here. I adore my Keeley Bassist there are more complex Compressors out there, and I don't care. You could fall down the stairs and get a good tone of out the Keeley.

4) Synth Pedal: Another crowded space, with a lot of garbage. I'm super impressed by the Keeley Synth 1. Ian Martain Allision (THE synth bass guy IMHO) swears by the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Just noticed you posted this - I think while my post was sitting in draft-mode.
I'd still very highly recommend the High Pass Filter (HPF) added to the end of your chain. You won't believe how much this stupid 1-knob box will clean up your sound

I read your post and was doing a bit of research, do you think an overdrive that acts as a high pass filter (Morning Glory) would do the job? That way I could kill two birds with one stone.

No - it's won't help with your clean tone, which frankly is where it's more important.
My rig will support the 30hz the lows (Mesa 800+ into a Fearless F112 cab, I don't think there's a harder hitting setup out there) and the HPF still makes a huge difference in cleaning up the sound. The Mesa 800+ actually has it's own HPF, I run them together. The Broughton is set to ~30hz and crushes everything below my Low-B Fundamental.
