Help with climbs?

The missing link for me is the aggressive climb. Have bought many books, none have helped. Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

i think you mean going up the neck.....try shifting to the next position with the first finger instead of the pinky

yeah..."aggressive climb" is not a common musical term, so books won't help...at least not until you can phrase it in more technical terms and look those up.

I assume you mean shifting from one position to another, higher up the neck, without loosing any musical fluidity. This really comes from learning your scales beyond mere one position fingering patterns, and familiarizing yourself with scales over the whole neck. check "PacMan's surefire scale practice method "in the stickies.

You also have to practice your shifts. Work on making them as fluid as possible. Practice painfully slow if you have to.

If I understand correctly, you should work on 2 octaves arpeggios in a cycle of fifth,

Thanks for the input. Turned on radio, without listening to the bass part, was able to ad lib some good climbs to the three main chords of "Fortunate Son" by CCR. Guess the trick is to find the tunes condusive to the desired technique.

Listen to "trippin on a hole in a paper heart" by STP that's a nice climb for you
