Help with color choice and electronics

So I decided to completely redo my first bass. It is an ibanez TR 50. I just gutted it completely and I am in the process of sanding her down. The ultimate goal is to give it to my daughter when she gets a little older so she too can learn on it.

So my first question is....What color should I paint her? She has a maple fretboard and i'm gunna reuse the black pickguard (possibly paint it as well). I'm not really wanting to paint it a "stock" color.
Also, I am interested in what you guys think about chrome, black, or gold hardware with the color scheme you suggest.

My second question is...What pickups and pots should I get? I'm not looking to spend a whole lot (prolly around $100). It's a p configuration with tone and volume knobs.

I would paint it your daughter's favorite color.

I have considered a nice lighter purple (one of her favorite colors). I've also considered a turquoise, yellow, or pink (possibly with black hardware)...still not exactly sure though. Just getting the primer on it right now...I won't get to the color for another week, so I have time to think about it..

yeh I was thinking paint it her favorite color the black hardware would look good with the black guard.If you paint the guard you have to put a few coats of clear over it
