HELP with ID and value "please"

Hi everyone,

My good friend just lost his brother and inherited about 10 basses. he is hoping to sell some of them and I have pictures of the first one. It's a Peavey Cirrus 6 string with and incredible look. This bass is amazing. I do not play 6 strings. Please tell me what you think he should do. The is one flaw in this otherwise mint bass. The ebony fingerboard has a hairline crack running length wise for about 3 frets. We were told by a local luthier not to repair it. What do you think?

Any idea on the year based on the serial number?

Also, this was in the room, an old Fender P that I think he modified to a PJ Active. I did not have time to look closely.

again, any ideas on the age from the neck plate number?

That's an oddball PJ-Bass. What is that knob above the pups all about? I know you may not be aware as you're dealing with your loss. I'm asking the general populace . . .

I'm sorry to hear that. The P looks fairly old, and it's a very odd series of modifications that may have unfortunately spoiled the basses worth.

The Fender is not for sale. It was his brothers favorite. He made all the mods 30 years ago without concern of value. The Bass is very old and heavily modified. It's the Peavey I am interested in hearing about, Is there a market for that bass? Thanks again.

I could really use some help regarding the Peavey. Is anyone familiar with them?

Yeah, they're pretty popular. I'd search ebay to get an idea of what they're going for.
