Double Bass Help with missing string hold down piece on the head

Wonder if anyone was injured when that moron flung the bass into the audience?

I thought the same thing. Always do when I see that kind of stuff. Could easily knock someone out or worse.
I once saw a band of teenagers throw out jagged 2' or 3' pieces of plywood covered in fake blood like frisbees.

Actually, the instrument seems to hold up quite well to deliberate attempts to destroy it. Embarrassing for the performer, I would say. I wonder if Leo foresaw this kind of activity when he was developing his designs?

I wonder if there is a training session dedicated purely to smashing instruments properly? As the video shows, it's not as easy as one might think

We are begging the question of, is there a way to smash instruments properly? Which is a quite different question from, is there a proper way to get smashed while playing an instrument?

I have seen from multiple sources that one of the ways Kay quality tested the strength of their basses was to have a 250 pound man stand on them.
