Help with my 1978 p bass burst colour!

That's it, as I recall that was the Fender marketing name for it, Sienna Burst.

That would be a honeyburst.

There was no Honeyburst in the 70s

There was Sunburst (500) in 1978, Tobacco Sunburst (525) in 1979,
Brown Sunburst (532) in 1981.

Sienna- and Cherry Sunburst was way different.

I don't claim to be an expert on colors in the 70's. Just offering up suggestions.

I thought it was called "senna sunburst" I could be wrong or misspelling it. Here's my 77 jazz.

I used to have a 76 P bass that I remember (with 90% certainty) being dark brown around the edges, not black. I traded it away in 1998, so it's a fuzzy memory...

Looks like sunburst to me, that's been in plenty of light. In low light the edges of my '78 are black, in sunlight, a sort of bronzed dark brown. However, the colour is different between the heel of the bass and around the horns; I'll take pics later.

The amount of red used between the edge and the middle varies too, in '70s Fenders; I'm guessing these were sprayed by hand. Some have lots of red, in others it's mild, in others still, it's uneven.

Thanks guys for all your replies and suggestions. I just hadn't seen such a chocolatey brown edge before I got my 78' so I figured it had to be something other than just usual sunburst.
