Help with resistors

Hey folks...I've been trying for some time now to locate a part for a Reggie Hamilton sig bass preamp, with no luck at all.

it's fender P/N 0049505000, described as "res, CF, 1/6W, 5%, 1M ohm", with no luck.

I've not been able to find a fender part, and the only thing aftermarket I've found matching those specs is only available in minimum quantities of 1000.

Can someone point me to a place where I can get the fender part or an aftermarket equivalent without having to buy a thousand of them?

Barring that, is there some substitute that might be more readily available?

Mouser.com should have something equivalent. Look for a carbon film resistor, 1 megaohm. Use a 1/4 watt. These are very common resistors, even radio shack should have them. 2% is better than 5% (indicates % variance in value so lower is better) and only costs 32 cents. It's the shipping that's going to kill you.

Don't worry about the wattage, that's only max power handling - 1/4 watt is very common and is higher than 1/6 watt so you're actually getting a better part.

This all assumes you're looking for a run-of-the-mill through-hole resistor. If it's something else, post a picture.

1/6W? That's an odd power rating. Does this resistor mount to a PCB where space is at a premium, or can you fit a larger resistor?

1M Ohms is an extremely common value for 1/4W Carbon Films. I'm pretty sure it might be one of the six values RadioShack still stocks these days.

Note that Fender does not manufacture resistors, btw. There is no such thing as a "Fender part."

I bet the 1/6W is a typo. Go with the 1/4W as other have said. Worst case you might have to have the resistor "hovering" over the other parts.

The only picture I have is a drawing in the service diagrams.

I got almost all the parts needed for the RH sig pre in a trade and was just trying to get the rest of them together. Best I can tell, it's the same basic preamp as the deluxe models, but has a passive/active switch.

Either way, I got a 1M ohm 1/4 watt at radio shack today, so thanks for all the help guys.
