Help with Ric 4001

It does look like a legit 1992 4003;

The square-ish lower horn threw me at first too.
I hope it works out for the OP :thumbsup:

Well, the owner finally relented and acknowledged that it must be a 4003, and changed his listing description. He also provided a serial. I’m just getting off work, so will check that out now. We couldn’t meet up today, but hopefully tomorrow. I’ll pull the trc and check it out. Trade value would put me in it around $2k, so if all checks out I may jump. Thank you all for the help and knowledge!

Well the deal fell through. Someone localish saw my post about this, found the guy’s listing and offered him cash over my trade (“some guy said he saw a post about it on a bass site…”). Needless to say, seller went with the cash, and this will be one of the last times I make a post like this lol.

If the buyer happens to see this- bad form, buddy.

I'd expect this sort of poor behavior out of a guitarist. But a fellow bassist? Sacrilege!!!!

Hey guys!
Had a trade offer for this bass, and not being a Ric expert, I just wanted to see if anyone could help me out. The owner claims it’s a 1992 4001, with a Hipshot bridge replacement. Replacement gator case. Claims it’s all original otherwise. These are the only pics I have currently, but he is local and willing to let me check it out. Just checking to see if anything looks off or suspicious. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!
Mine was a 74 4001. For a 30 year old bass, this is in incredible shape.

I would make sure that the numbers on the jack plate are legitimate.

I know my 4001 had an ROS stereo output jack in addition to a mono 1/4” jack. I would make sure both are functioning. BTW, a good ROS setups are the bees knees and will make profound difference in the character and flexibility of this instrument.
