Help with staccato notes

Word. I'm not really sure who gets to set the rules for art. Certainly not me.

Lol. Certainly not me either. I've generally found Talkbass to be a great resource, but I generally take it all with a grain of salt. In the end, everything is about what works for us as individuals.

As far as gear bashing, I'd never do it. I own Fretwraps, I own compressors, I even own picks... Went through a pick exploration a while back and tried a huge variety, 34 styles/varieties/thicknesses: traditional, wood, bone, brass, felt, boutiques, etc. (Have a pic if you want to see.. You know the TB rule: pics or it didn't happen! ;) ;) lol) I've also used foam under strings for Motown stuff.

Like others, I'm just suggesting that technique might be a good starting point. I've never tried a 30" scale bass, but I can mute my 34"-35" 5’s without trouble.

And we talk about players using mutes, how about players that don't? Check out Rocco... His bass lines with Tower of Power are super tight, and he doesn't use a mute/damper.

Absolutely. That is why the low action recommendation was so poignant. Nothing beats really good fretting hand technique. The lower the action, the easier it is to kill off the ring quickly while playing fast lines. Either that or we can all play country....

I have to admit my action is not the best (it's making learning tapping a complete nightmare) I'll have to see what I can do with the new bass regarding action.
I use 135 on the B string, I could go thicker but only on that string, the rest of the set is quite comfortable.
