HELP!

Hello guys!

I'm having a little problem ... I was wondering if this Fender Japan Pbass 62 is really authentic.
I got it from a friend of mine, who said: this is a limited edition ... it was a prototype ... something like that.
said too: the bass data is inside the arm in stamps.

Can someone help me there?

Well, the neck is stamped "APR '97" so it was made in April 1997. That's consistent with Fender practice.
The model ID PB62DEX2 isn't showing up in any database I know of. It could mean "Precision Bass, 1962 D profile", or the "D" indicates a 1-7/8" nut width. I don't know what EX2 means, but one website suggests that it signifies that it was made in Japan, but destined for EXport. You most certainly should ask Fender to elaborate.
There should be some kind of similar stamp in the neck pocket of the body, maybe hiding under that wooden shim.

It certainly looks like a nice bass, but most definitely not made in 1962.

I second this thought. Should be noted in the serial number on the neck plate (JV*****), or on the back of the neck at the heel.

I was already sure that he was not 62. The old owner told me that he was made in Japan at a time when the fender factory was outsourced ... something like that.
and some errors came up ... some bass comes with the two "crafted" and "made in ..." stickers on the same bass
but I had never seen an instrument without serial number.
I can not find anywhere

It's possible that it is a parts bass with non-original parts.
