Helppppp! Fender amp just blinking

I am reminded of MRC cards:

image009.jpg

the first step on the troubleshooting cards would be : Is the equipment's ON/OFF switch set to the ON position?
the second step was that if it was ON, to switch it off, wait 3 seconds & turn it back on :woot:

add: I was smelling something fishy from the beginning, plugged in a hair dryer, but didn't turn it on, and still had this issue

I work IT but have worked in a manufacturing facility. I was in charge of putting the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on the network. Nobody reads those things but I did, I read every single one and it changed the way I think about everything. We also had safety training, mandatory. PITA? No way, you learn you could DIE out there. Man you learn some scary stuff about electricity (arc flash). That's why I guess I thought there might be a deeper issue. You just don't forget that stuff.

When an amp is powered up and then you suddenly remove power (in this case because of a tripped ckt breaker) it may take a few seconds for the power supply voltages to collapse. It may be possible to get blinking indicators during that "collapsing time". But only for a second or 2. That is one "possible explanation."

Od was blinking. I flipped the circuit breaker in my house and it working fine now... phewww

Unless the amp had a battery backup like a computer UPS system, how exactly was it getting power with a tripped breaker? Having a tripped breaker is the same as pulling the outlet out of the wall and trying to power the thing up.

If the outlet is getting partial power with a tripped breaker, then you have bigger issues than the amp itself and need to call an electrician before you house burns down.

While you are waiting for the electrician (or the house burning down if you ignored my last sentence) sell the thing and get the Mesa Boogie D800+ :D

When a motor starts, it can throw a spike onto the power line.

A blinking light on your Rumble could indicate a fault in the power supply. At the input of the PS circuit, there are components that filter power line spikes. It is possible that this is where the problem lies.

The hair dryer could have caused the problem.

The amp needs to be looked at by a tech.

Strangest thing, I keep having the urge to acquire a Mesa Boogie D800. Where could an idea like that come from?:)
