I am listening to this album after watching the Lakers lose to Minnesota. Herbie Hancock was prescient in making this record because if was like he made a soundtrack to a Blaxploitation movie two years before anyone made a Blaxploitation movie. Oh well, it was originally music for Bill Colby’s Fat Albert animated special, so I guess was a progenitor to that era. It is interesting hearing Buster Williams play bass guitar. I don’t think he really came to terms with the fact that he could play bass guitar with a much lighter touch. That said, he is a great bassist. I see Jerry Jemmott and Bernard Purdie were on tracks one and seven, This is a really cool album!
