here we go again - rant

As long as we're on the subject of meaningless posts......

How about when a new guy asks a relatively simple and often asked question........ followed by 2 or 3 posts that say. ......."use the search function !" and don't give the poor person any other information.

I mean c'mon folks this is, after all, "TalkBass" NOT "ReadBass"! It seems to me that if all you can say is "use the search function" then your post is probably the most pointless and annoying in the thread. You did get to see your name on the thread though :rolleyes:

If you still feel the overwhelming need to point out the search function as many times as you can, at least leave something remotely approaching a reasonable answer to the persons question...... while guiding them to the search function, perhaps for a more complete answer.

BassManJim...that is a good point. I have been guilty of that more than once. I have seen a few other members mention the search feature, and then provide as an example the results of a search on the topic in question. I think I'll try that next time instead of the lame-o "use the search feature dude".

WOW I didn't know Canadian's were so uptight. :) I only thought Americans where the ones with short tempers.

Here's my reason I'm american so im prone to being Lazy... :) So typing get a fender is a lot faster then typing the same thing I have said over and over agian just to type it again also I'm checking out other threads as well....man im getting tired.... and when my wife wants on the computer. i have to act fast.
ok time for a nap. this thread has done me in. :)

Well it is a FACT that in the 20th century Fender basses were the brand most used by professional players and the brand heard most on recordings. It's probably still true, though I can't back it up with numbers.

It would not be out of line at all to suggest to someone looking for a bass to buy a Fender, they have an excellent track record.

Best bass for every situation? Of course not but as has often been said "you won't get fired for playing a Fender".

BTW I do own Fender basses but I also own and use basses by Godin, Steinberger, Supro, Danelectro, Jerry Jones, Gibson, and Peavey.

Now that would be a helpful post to someone asking the "which bass to buy?" question..........

.........and it didn't take that much longer to type than "get a Fender dude!" or "use the search function" ........

.....and you shared your knowledge.........

...... and you maintained the TB standard of respect and dignity.
