You don't think quality has increased? Do you know as a fact? Hmmm spend 1200 on a MIA and pull the pups, put a HM bridge on it ... now 1500, still have necks that shift around and become misaligned just like any bolt on might,
Or spend 300 on a beautiful Squier VM Jazz w Duncan pups, and good to go. If you want a HM Bridge 70, pups 125, machines, 80... now 575, just as good but the LABEL. Mod it to your spec. Man maple is maple, rosewood is rosewood, even the Affinities have great wood and workmanship, hardware is lacking, but $200! better woodwork than MIM.
Play one before you just assume.And read about the converts all over this forum.
Have you actually played any of the CV series basses?
^^ that's what I say. MIA means nothing in many cases.
I would like them to use better hardware and pots. Every single new Sq. I have tried from CV to VM to BP to Boo Radley has had pots on an uneven keel with cheesy knobs that fall off and roll under the used Bag End cabs that nobody buys at GC. I would like them to at least try to get their Fiesta Red to look remotely close to what Fiesta Red looks like. I would like Fender and all the companies under it's umbrella to stop making "Jag" style basses without implementing Nordy style Big Singles (or ANY other soapbar single coil) so that the aforementioned instrument doesn't look like a bastard child who claims to be of a royal bloodline. Incorporating one or all of these suggestions into a single instrument would make me a Sq. customer.
a good piece of wood for 300 skins, a couple hundred in hardware, a little know how with a screwdriver and soldering iron you are in MIA territory, s'all we're sayin..............
Mighty Mite replacement necks are carried by GC. They're just shy of $100. I used a maple/maple J neck on a Frankensquier I built a few months back and was happy with it.

It looks exactly like Fiesta Red is supposed to look like. Ive seen tons of FR, and squier got it right. I know there was a side by side someone had on here of one of the squiers and an actual 60's fender. Anyone still got it?
Have you even played either jag? I owned a fender jag for the better part of 3 years. Id still have it if i hadnt gotten laid off. It was single best sounding bass ive ever played/owned/seen. The pickups and electronics were amazing. Same goes for the squier. I would have much rather had a full jazz set up, but it still doesnt sound bad for a p/j setup. Or are you just that brand leading that your blinded to everything but?
That whole comment just made you sound like an ass. You dont like their stuff? Dont come into a thread and comment on it. Enough said.
Check the TB classifieds. They pop up every now and again.
Also, I've seen a few VM Js on my local craigslist over the past few months at right around the $200 mark. If you score one in your area for the same amount of dough, you could probably sell off the body and electronics for $100+ and still have your b-n-b neck (with tuners!) for around a C-note.
