No problem with playing the frets. In fact I really like how it works for some fingerings.

I've owned an ABZ 5 and tried a Super P. I own neither, which was a decision based on how they sounded for my needs.

I jumped in with a Super P/J 4, no test drive. The bass arrived and surpassed my wildest dreams. I used the packaging to box my Fender Jazz, put up an add and had it sold and shipped that same week. Never looked back.

With the Super series four stringers, you can pretty much use any strings you like.
