hey toronto tb'ers !

John,
It might be fun to get a few TB'ers together, go for a beer and check out a band or two. There are quite a few live music venues close by.
The friday (29th) would be good for me, but Saturday might be better for some people that have to come in from the suburbs etc.
Anyone else into this?

Hi John: You've got my numbers... give me a call. It might be fun for a few of us to get together on the Saturday (30th).

You asked if it was safe to walk further west than Bathurst. Absolutely. I think the area a few blocks EAST of Yonge street is where you might want to avoid. The west side is pretty cool and you shouldn't have to worry about any weirdness.

Also, there are a lot of small clubs around the "little Italy" section of town (College St, near Bathurst). I think Sunday night is one of their more popular nights. Yeah, Sunday night seems weird to me too. I guess I'm too old to be hip.

I just noticed I'm saying "weird" a lot in this post...... weird.

I'm going to be in Toronto the 1st or 2nd week of January for the IAJE convention - which is going to be a bass player's dream this year! Yellowjackets, Dave Holland, the Dave Weckl Band..... oh, and some guy named John Patitucci.... I'm so stoked!

hey guys!

i'm here in toronto. our room here in the marriot has web tv - how cool is that? :D i brought both 8 strings, so if any of you guys are interested in checking them out let me know.

also, interestingly enough, the guys over at harmony central bass forum are having a get together of sorts at the indigo cafe at eaton centre this saturday - i'm going to try and meet up with some of them too. maybe this could be a harmony-central/talkbass summit :D . that would be pretty cool.

i'm in the eaton centre marriot, the room is listed under my wife barbara's name (barbara turner), any of you toronto folks just give me a call. ctheop and big o, i have your numbers and i will give you guys a call.

A HC-TB summit eh? Kinda like the Yasser Arafat meeting Ariel Sharon? You'll need to have someone from the Dudepit as a 3rd party peacemaker...Heheh. Just kidding..... :D Actually most people on both forums are cool, there's only the odd twit. I think TB tends to squash those guys a bit quicker than they do on HC....

I'd love to take a spin up to TO and meet you J.T. but it's not going to happen this time around....Tony Levin beckons from Montreal, y'know? I'm pretty stoked about that show, actually...
Hopefully we'll get a chance some other time!

Hey John: It was great meeting you and Barbara on Saturday. Boy, considering she was just in surgery the day before - she is really patient with you!!! (Carol asked me to include this comment...)

Thanks for bringing up the 8-strings, they are both way beyond my capacity to play (let alone keep track of the controls!), but the feel of the necks on both was unbelievable!

Here's some pics from T.O.

Hey Antipop - sorry I missed meeting you. I was just arriving in the side door entrance to the lobby as you were leaving out the main lobby - GREAT hair, BTW!!

JT suggested that we book a Toronto TBers get together for some of the area members - if you are interested we should do that in the new year.
