Double Bass Hey....

I am the world's #1 Bonnie Raitt fan. The woman is a demigod. When I play her music to my students, I always preface the conversation with something along the lines of "If any of you want to talk any trash about Bonnie, we'll have that conversation in the parking lot. Last person standing wins. And you better bring a lunch."

This goes for you too, Kasper. :eyebrow:

Wow...Looks like somebody's got a crush on BR. (I just like her music, and band, a whole lot. I'm not "stalking" her like some people...)
Funfact - Because you are obsessed with Ms. Raitt, you probably know that the Studio version of Have A Heart is in Ab, but she performs it live, in A.
But, you probably knew that, I'd guess.
Thanks!

Her band is incredible. Consumate pros. Hutch and Ricky Fataar are my gold standard for laying down a groove: Not too much, not too little. And George Marinelli is the same. There is a special genius to playing just the right thing for the overall texture, and these guys all have it. Only other bands I have ever heard do this live are Union Station and Punch Brothers. Just ridiculous.

As for Ms. Raitt, she flat out personifies and owns every single thing she sings. Doesn't matter if it's a great song or not. It's actually kind of more impressive when the song isn't so great, because she still owns it. I think I've learned more form listening to her than just about anybody else. It's like listening to Miles when he's on. He can play three notes, and just blow your mind. Same with Bonnie, and she can do it with both her voice and the slide guitar. Thats what I wanna be when I grow up!

Funny, I never really gave much thought her singing. Seriously. But her Dad was a great singer! Seriously.

I have always thought the bass chair in Bonnie Raitt’s band would be the best gig ever.

I beg to differ.

I don’t like her or her attitude... and I wish she would shut up.
