Double Bass Hi everyone..I'm new to the forum

Hi Guys and Gals...I'm very new to this Forum. I hope to learn a lot from you all.
I'm an electric guitar player but have recently developed an interest in the upright bass...would really like to get a good one to learn on.
Thanks for some very informative threads.

Heya. Greetings and welcome.

The moderators have taken a bunch of time to put FAQs at the top of each subforum. By all means look them over thoroughly; there is much wisdom floating here amidst the sarcasm.

As someone who has long dabbled in guitar while delving deeply into DB, please let me say, "You're going to love double bass." The sound is infectious. Even more than on guitar, it comes from you rather than from your gear. Best of all, centuries of beautiful music are available to you: One instrument can travel with you from Berlioz to bluegrass to bebop to bossa to blues and beyond!

Thanks Sam for a warm welcome. :) As a newbie to contrabass I've already learnt a lot since joining AND have already experienced the sarcasm you refer to....LOL.

Welcome! ...and don't let some of the roughnecks on the DB forum deter you from asking any dumb ole question. Sometimes hard outside, they're really soft inside and full of much URB wisdom ;).
