HI folks, any other lefties here?

Lefty all the way. I usually get a bass, scrap everything but the neck and body and go from there.

As my handle says, Left handed Alaskan bass player!
I started out in the 70s with a right handed Jazz. used to love the neck dive. Switched to Ibanez in 1980. Never looked back.
In the early 2000's I started looking for left handed instruments.
I've owned the following: Dean mahogany lefty, Epiphone EBO lefty, and now many Ibanez leftys.
Now the funny part is, I have to switch the nut to a righty nut because i've played so many years flipping a righty over and playing it.

Although the Ibanez SR series is longer than short scale, it is a slender fast neck. A lot of people with smaller hands love them. Plus no customization needed, they are hot rods right out of the box! Do yourself a big favor and try the Ibanez series out before deciding on anything. Oh, and take a look at the Ibanez Mikro Bass left handed. Excellent bass for the price and you can get it left handed. Of course you'll find as I have already most lefty basses are in a popular color: Black! Like the Ford Model T! LOL.

I'm left-handed. Just go ahead and learn to play a traditional right-handed instrument. It makes more sense to use your dominant hand to fret anyways. My band has two guitarists and all three of us are left-handed and play right-handed instruments.

I agree to use your dominant hand for fretting has worked very well for me. I'm short and have chunky fingers, so I've found that medium (32") scaled basses work best for me.

Also, because we live in a right-handed world, lefties are more ambidextrous, so right-handed instruments often work better for us than left-handed instruments would work for righties.

I'm one of those lefties - I did try playing right handed when I started out 35 years ago, it just felt very awkward and unnatural so I flipped the bass over and restrung it lefty. After a few years I got my first real lefty bass which was a massive improvement - no more neck dive!

Same kind of lefty experience here. I bought my first bass back in the late seventies, a brand new Rick ( right handed ) thinking I could overcome my leftendency. Couldn't, as it just felt wrong from the start, so I flipped it over and restrung it as well, but then couldn't get past my wrist rubbing the control knobs and unintended tone/volume changes.

Thankfully, the music store were I purchased it, gave me a full return as long as I put it toward another instrument. They told me a lefty Rick was not an option, but, I could get a left handed Fender by special order, which I did.

Still have it in fact.

He's not going to get $600 for it, so you could either wait him out or make an offer. But I would contact the seller to ask about the high action, and make sure there's some turn left in the truss rod.

Perhaps having a word with TB'er blablas would help. He's done plenty mods to the Thomann short P bass,think he's
up to 3 now. Got bored with lack of choice so builds his own left handers,sadly not for sale
