how much is your string budget, how often do you change them, and how long does it take you?...i have a hard enough time affording a 5 string set for 1 bass

I did a Google on the brand and type strings I normally use and found a store that was selling the 5 string sets for $23 instead of $31. Confirmed that it was a legit price and bought a bunch of them. The online price went up right after my order. If it had been a typo I wouldn've let it slide.
Shop around. It's still not cheap but sometimes it can be cheap(er).

well, that was the intent with the new century all along, just couldn't get the logistics going with it.
Dude, you know what people say about guys who love big guns...that they have a small...Hope that is not the case with guys who likes basses with more than 6 strings.
