High pass filter : frequency?

I've tried to care about that HP but then I think let soundguy do their job.
Obviously it depends on what is going on. If there a big subby kick - let bass sit higher, if you're using things like octavers - let them fill low end, etc.

i recall seeing a video once that showed speaker excursion with and without the hpf and, completely subjectively, how much less the speaker moved with hpf on, and how much more volume could be coaxed as a direct result. i can't find that video now or another like it. anyone seen anything like that?

I've definitely seen it, though I don't recall where. It's what convinced me to get a HPF in the first place.

I have two in my signal chain. One (Broughton always-on) right after the octabvre and one (in addition to a lpf in the Empress Para EQ) right in Front of a DCX in overdrive mode.
I know it comes down to listening and adjusting to taste but are there (in theory) particularly beneficial settings for each case?

I am pretty sure he refers to the video where you see the effect of the speaker excursion of a bass guitar played through a speaker respectively with and without HPF applied.

It's a relatively short video where you just see and hear the cone of the speaker of an exposed cabinet.

I think it was posted recently in the other big HPF thread on this forum, but can't find it.

When it might start thinning, like at 80Hz, then turning up bass eq is a good way to fatten up, the "good" bass frequencies get boosted without the lower boomy muddle frequencies.
