Anyone ever ever heard of Hill basses/guitars?

I ask because Stefan Lessard's equipment page has only these listed as his basses now...

Hill Huntington Elite 5 string bass

Curious about them...

I used to live a few miles from Jon Hill's shop and visited him several times. This is the six I used to own:

The bass sounded fantastic. Unfortunately it was pretty heavy because of the walnut body and wenge/purpleheart neck, which also gave a small amount of neck dive (along with the large-ish headstock- I still love that headstock design). I ordered it just before he re-opened his shop, so unfortunately it took way longer than planned because he was building stock up, but in general his turnaround times were pretty quick. I've played about five or six of his other basses. They're all very nice- the low-end fives didn't sound super-great, but the rest were very nice.

It's strange that the currently non-functioning website says "Hill Basses." When I met him, he was starting to get back into building, and I suggesting joining TalkBass and talking to some bass-only dealers, etc., but the shop seemed to have a bigger focus on their guitars.

Hello All, I am still here, sort of !
I was offered a Teriffic opportunity to work at Dean Guitars running their woodshop. And now, through the aid of my new boss, are beginning to re-introduce Hill Basses (basses only for now). I appreciate all the kind words about the basses, and Yes Stefan from Dave Mathews is still playing them.
We are just getting started on things so I will try and keep you posted as to what is going on.

or Jon Hill tampa bay FL on facebook.
either way i am excited to start building some Hill stuff again !

Jon, this is wonderful to hear. I got to play a six string fretless bass that someone out here owned quite a few years ago now. That was a wonderful instrument. Best of luck!

Andy, you were at that GTG where I brought my Hill fretless? I don't even remember meeting you :D

Ha, ha! No, there used to be a guy in NH with one. That was quite some time ago though. He moved onto basses with I think 7 strings and is playing something else now. At the time his Hill's string spacing was too narrow for my tastes....now I think I'd like it even more since I'm playing with narrow spacing myself now....anyhow, I remember that was well. It was a beautfy.
