OK, I have come to some conclusions based on what I learned during this thread:
I may owe someone an apology for getting a bit too saucy. That was during Day 2 of nicotine withdrawal, so rationality waxed and wained all day yesterday for me.
Venomous argument rarely yields good results, but when we return to a normal tone of voice, most of us will probably agree that Americans eat horribly, vegans are people too (from Vega, I take it, which if memory serves is the alpha star in Lyra), deforestation is bad, and we can all vote with our shoes and wallets.
Lastly, and most importantly, I will not attempt to eat a Hima bass, or any bass made by pillaging the wrong forest.
If this made no sense, hey, it's day 3.
