Hipshot and Paint

Hi there fellow fat-stringers! I just happened to stumble upon this site and have taken a look around, and I am very very happy with my good fortune. This looks like the perfect place for me...:D

I have a couple of questions right off the bat as well...yayyy

First, I am the proud caretaker of a fine 60th Aniv MIM Jazz bass.

I want to put a Hipshot type A bridge on her, with the string-through option, which she does NOT currently have. Has anyone done this on a MIM before? Is there are there any caveats or problems I should be aware of?

Next I would like to have my sweety refinished. I was thinking of a new base (puny) coat, some tasty pinstripping, and a ton of clear on top. I am thinking of having her sprayed at a custom bike shop (that paints some very nice tanks). Should I be concerned with doing it this way...mainly, will an automotive finish dampen or deaden my bass?

Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated thanks!
