I recently purchased a six-string Hipshot Type A bridge for a bass that I'm building. Because I prefer to have really tight spacing, I purchased a bridge with the tightest possible spacing, .669 . Most Hipshot Type A bridges have slivers of metal that run up between each saddle, presumably for maintaining the rigidity of the saddles. However, my .669 does not have those slivers. I'm assuming that that is for the purpose of achieving the tighter spacing, but I'm concerned that not having the slivers will decrease my tone quality. Is it worth it to sacrifice tone for spacing, or should I go up to the next tightest spacing of .708? Maybe I'm just being overly-picky here, but nonetheless, I'd like to hear your input. (I added some pictures to give you some idea of what I'm talking about).
