Hi there !
First, sorry for incoming mistakes, I am a french guy :). So here is the situation: I just received from Thomann my new rig composed of gk mb 500 and gk no 212 8 ohms. As the title implies, I am experiencing some hiss coming from the speakers... this happens no matter what I set as Eqs and it happens too when my bass isn't plugged in and even when the master volume is zero. Of course, it increases as I up the volume. Well this hiss isn't that annoying when I play but it bothers me when doing nothing... does some of you have clues of what is happening ?

Thanks for your answers :)

Nothing to be sorry about and your English is outstanding.
Thanks. English is my first language. I never had good grades in that subject in school. It's one of the things that I have been tring to improve upon in my golden years.
Honestly, in my conversations with you, I forgot that you were a French guy.
Your English as a second language exceeds mine as a first language.
It was nice to chat with you. I suppose I should let this thread get back on topic.
Cheers.

He beats a lot of us, self included. We've murdered the king's English!

So you're the one that built my '82 Renault! :D

Your English is much better than my French!

I'll second what Old Garage-Bander said-contact your dealer and have him address it under warranty. Good luck and let us know how you make out!
My dad had a '61 Renault. Back then, in the US, we pronounced it like or Ree-NALT, instead of the proper pronunciation.

Write to them and get it exchanged.

Lots of cobras in the Filipino Rain forest, presumably the same in the French rain forest. Better get an expert snake handler on it right away!

From the X-files, as they entered a snake handling church:

Sculley: Funny, I don't remember any of this from Catechism.

Molder: I've known several Catholic girls that were expert snake handlers.

(Poor OP having to try to understand all our BS)

Hi guys, thanks for answers :).

Well ... I guess french cars, baguette, wine and cheese make all of you dream about it :p. Back to the initial topic, there is a tweeter in this cab but I turned it off (I'm pretty sure it releases no hiss as I put my ear next to it while amp was on ;) ). I just went in a music shop in my city and tried my amp with others cabs/speakers and a speakon 2 pin as well but nothing changed. The problem is coming from the amp, as it's said all around the net... I just wanted to be sure of this fact.
Some guys say that hiss something like "natural" but I don't understand why people with my rig won't experience it...
I'm about to contact Thomann and let you know better about this later. Again, if someone experienced this, especially with this rig, let me know :)

Amps will almost always have a little background noise, especially with nothing plugged in at the input and the volume turned up. But if it is so loud to be annoying, then something is wrong. You have eliminated the cab as the problem. Good job! New equipment is always prone to having problems related to manufacturing. I would think that Thomann and/or Hartke should want to make good on this.
