I'm in the market for an inexpensive 5 string. Sure, I'd like to get an expensive one, but I'm poor this year. Hooray economy. So I'm going to purchase a 5 string as soon as taxes come back. I'd like a 5 string ATK but it's slightly out of my budget range right now 
and I refuse to buy used. I've had way horrible experiences buying used, and finding a used 5 string ATK is pretty impossible where I live anyway.
But anyway, I'm very happy with my Ibanez ATK300, but it does not handle BEAD set ups very well, so I prefer to keep that one tuned in D standard.
So I'm peeking about at a few options. I'd love to try all these basses, but I live in a very remote area and there is no place around for miles that sells anything but Fenders, Squiers, and Soundgears :/ I never could get a good tone out of a Fender or a Squier.

I like to get a very metallic, growling tone. It's hard to describe, but my band likes to refer to my tone as the "old diesel engine" and it fits very well with our music. Despite having small hands, I actually prefer a wider, flat neck as pencil thin necks give me hand cramps. The neck on my ATK is wonderful and very comfortable for me. I suppose if I could get a few opinions on which of these basses could most easily get the diesel engine tone and has a neck most similar to an ATK it'd be appreciated.
