Hofner Icon Club bass!!

Club bass ordered. Now I need to re-read all these posts to find out which strings are preferred. I've always played round wounds, but I have a set of LaBella tapes on my fretless and I love them. I'll probably be playing straight ahead Jazz on this bass most of the time. Experienced recommendations welcomed.
Resurrecting this zombie thread to say that the Guitar Center website has new Hofner Ignition Club Basses with cases in stock and available either on the 'net or "ship to store"
I'm still regularly using the Club I purchased when they first came out about 5 years ago but were then discontinued for a while.

I have an Icon Club Bass that I really like. It has TI Jazz Flats on it. I used it for some jazz gigs but Hofner, I fear, will forever be associated with the Beatles and I got tired of the comments and musical references, like the guitar player playing Day Tripper every time I pulled it out of the case. But I love the light weight and low action, and I think it sounds great. It's just a great bass for very little cash.
I couldn't help but think this bass was prettier than the rest on this thread until I looked farther down and realized from what y'all was saying that the pick guard was off. I personally think it looks SOOO much better off. Reminds me of the Epiphone Allen Woody Rumblekat
I bought a Rumblekat shortly after they came out and thought it looked like the Hofner Club and Guild M-85 neither of which was available again except as vintage instruments. I used the Rumblekat for a few years until I bought a "prototype" blackburst Hofner Icon Club when they first appeared on Ebay.
