On the weekend I installed German rugby tuners on my HCT. I didn’t have to drill new wholes. I keep forgetting to post a picture. I willbdo such today!
I just completed installing a number of German made replacement parts onto my HCT500/1 CV including new rugby tuners, tailpiece, control panel and pickguard. Will post a pick shortly. I'll be selling the Chinese made components that I removed.

Thank you mate absolutely love this bass, so glad I came to my senses & started playing it again.
Here's 3 that I quickly took this afternoon. I apologize for the poor image quality. The tailpiece has the Karl Hofner (KH) insignia with the violin on it. Rugby tuners are a nice fit as is the control panel and pickguard. Had to make a minor mod to the bridge in order to get the pin on the pickguard to line up.
Will take a few pics this weekend outdoors of it and my 60th Anniversary 63 500/1.

Thank you! I really like the model, even though the neck profile is a lot different on the Shorty basses. Specifically the necks are wide and chunky. I prefer the narrow necks of the 500/1s. The neck on my 68 500/1 is the most comfortable I have played. Nonetheless, these Shorty basses are still comfortable and offer some variety.
I was looking at your picture and thought the nut width looked wide so did a search & it came back, at 42mm.Which if I'm not mistaken is the same as the HCT 500/1. I to prefer the slimmer neck of the 60's models it just feels better in my hand after all these years
