Hollow body advice please

I had a buddy over the other night and we recorded some clips I just finished posting at:

http://www.verneandru.com/WebApp/Downloads/Danedetto/Danedetto-1-clips-BrianQuinn.mp3

I recorded him with 3 separate tracks - condensor mic, piezo DI and humbucker DI. There are 3 separate clips. The first 2 are in 4 segments [mic, piezo, humbucker, all mixed with mic coming in part way]. The first clip has the piezo tone set to full bass and the humbucker tone to full treble. On the second clip segment the piezo is full treble and the humbucker is full bass. The last segment is an overdubbed noodle with bass track added. It is a very good quality mic, I just have very bad mic pre's in my desk, hence the "hiss".

I will be adding more clips as I make them - distortion, fx, etc. They will be posted to The Danedetto Project page found in the Recent Projects section at www.VerneAndru.com. If this link is dead when you try it from here, it's probably because it has been updated - follow the above directions for the updates.

Here's an old thread resurrected from the dead. I spend more time with guitar and mandolin these days than bass, so I don't come by here very often. But since I'm here I thought I'd post a quick update on this project since so many of you were so helpful.

Jeff [JSPguitars] here on TB was kind enough to sell me the unused Longhorn body he had and I've since had that one built into a guitar as well. I wanted to make sure I made something that didn't duplicate what I already have, so I ended up with a 7-string jazz style:

The neck is from a Samick I found on eBay - it's basically a 7 string Stratocaster. My luthier made a nice bone nut for it. Machines are locking Grover Mini-Rotomatic. Pickup is a Kent Armstrong custom made [by Kent] 7 string floater with volume and tone pots mounted under the fingerrest. Just like the first, the fingerrest, bridge and tailpiece are hand made out of ebony [that's getting extremely difficult to source these days].

It was finished last year in time for me to take it to NAMM [2010] and show it off to a few people. Billy "Buddha" Dickens came by and just wailed on it. When he finished he exclaimed, "I gotta get one of these." No video, unfortunately.

There was a third one made for a buddy of mine, actually the second one, that has the same treatment with a really nice custom made US Guitars neck, custom [made by Kent] Kent Armstrong 6 string floater and a B-band soundboard mounted transducer. I only have these progress shots of that one:

Here's a pic of #1 and #3:

I have a website up at Link Removed with a Youtube of #3 in action. The supply of bodies is long gone so I'm working up some 3D models for a scratch CNC version.
