Hollow body short scale bass?

SO want to try one o'them.

Epiphone Allen Woody (also semi hollow) is my current love.

The Allen Woody is a bargain IMO. Except for the cheap strings and the mediocre factory set-up, the one I got is a well made and charismatic little bass. Light, small, cheap, functional.

I would be all over a Lakland hollow shorty IF the headstock were 2+2. The 4-up look on that one really turns me off. Still, if one appeared under the tree on 12/25, I wouldn't scrooge over it.

"Charismatic" totally. The build quality on mine approaches flawless. First things I did when I got mine (used) was swap in a Hipshot Supertone bridge (because 3-point bridges are pointless) and string it up with Fender flats. It's been my main player for 2+ years.

I've got one of these, which I've modded a bit. While it doesn't play as nice as some of my other basses, it is still nice. However they're a long way from a full hollowbody - the area where the f hole is is hollowed out, but that's it. Most of it is a sold body bass.

Yes I was responding to the questions on which Long scales hollowbody basses exist. Didn't come out clearly.

The Allen Woody I've handled briefly but found it appealing. Will try one sometime, or a Hofner Club.

I really like my AW Rumblekat but have had some issues. A good initial setup was impossible because the nut was way too "tall". Once it was cut down the bass set up well and now plays great. The original tuners were sloppy so I upgraded those and the bass now tunes easier and holds tune better.

The bass just developed a electronic buzz, so it going to need more work. (I've had it about a year and it has only had gentle home use.)

On the plus side, with the current set up it plays great, I love the deep bass tones it produces and it is a pretty little thing. That's why I have put up with all the issues.

BTW, I put GHS flats on mine straight away and that is the tone I like.

Like others have said Invalid Link Removed looks very nice. I have yet to play one but it's on my list. I can totally see me showing up to the semi-acoustic jams with this and my Rumble 40.

Guild Starfire. They come in 1 and 2 pickup models now. I own a vintage starfire and only use the neck pup but they don't make the single neck pup models. Either way, its a nice bass. And good looking to boot.

+1 on the Lakland HoBo 30 - this is a really sweet little bass with an amazing sound.

I was tempted to buy a Rumblekat, but I was turned off by the wide neck. Short scale should be 1.5" or less IMO.

Danelectro Longhorn . Short scale , light , sounds gorgeous , two octave neck . I also have a Woody Allen and a Hofner . But the Dano rules .

Eastwood makes the Classic IV, a true semi-hollow short scale. Over the years they have toyed with the bridge, and during one run they installed a hard tail TOM style with metal posts and wood bridge. That is my favorite, the stability of TOM but the woodiness of a rosewood bridge. Nice basses.
