To the OP, you'll find your request to be a very short list, because most of the "semi-acoustic" basses in the market are not truly that. Yes, they look like them but most of them have a centre block running through the middle of the body which eliminates the hollow body tone while adding sustain and eliminating any potential for feedback. That includes many of the basses that have been mentioned in this thread such as Warwick's Star Bass, Fender's Starcaster and Coronado, Ibanez' Artcore AGB, Hofner's Contemporary Series. Gretsch semi-acoustic basses are just that, but for the most part are long scale and quite large overall. If you're prepared to buy a vintage semi-acoustic bass then the Vox basses from the 60's like the Sidewinder, Constellation, Stinger, Wyman and Astro are all short scale scale real semi-acoustic basses as is Eko's 995 and Klira's Twen Star 162, 356, 357 and 360 Merkur.

I'm not sure about Hagstrom's current Viking reissue it could be a true semi-acoustic as it's original Swedish made counterpart Concord was back in the 60's and 70's. German made Hofner's are also semi-acoustic and great basses if you're prepared to dole out the funds for one.

What you're looking for is out there, but you'll have to do your homework and either look for yourself or ask someone to look for you to confirm that the instrument you're considering is truly semi-acoustic.

For the past couple of months I've been looking for a "noodleing bass" and it has to be a true semi-acoustic short scale instrument. Just haven't found one that I'm willing to buy yet that satisfies my budget and meets or exceeds my expectations.

I believe the hardware is identical, but shape wise they are a little different with the Harley Benton having deeper cut-aways like an ES-335...

I'll give you odds they're both from the same factory. I see them on ebay occasionally from Chinese sellers with either no brand name at all, or some bogus brand of theirs, like "Grote". What an unfortunate name.

+2 on Lakland HB30. Great bass! fully hollow too. The body is milled so there is enough wood under the bridge without going semihollow.

I have been trying to find a good hollow body bass for awhile and it seems like there isn't that many out there. Iv e been looking for a hollow body with a short scale neck, humbuckers, and preferably a hardtail bridge of some sort. However a regular scale bass with a hardtail bridge would also be acceptable. I also was looking and found the Dan Armstrong bass which I thought was also pretty cool, but it seems almost like a one of a kind bass that doesn't really have anything like it. Maybe someone knows of a bass that may fit this?

Eastwood Classic 4. Eastwood Classic 4 Fretless and Eastwood Classic 5 are all 30.5" scale and are all Semi-Hollow. The Classic 4 also comes in a LH model. This is not a full hollow body bass.
