I find clarity to be good on both, but the obvious difference between them is that the VR is solid state while the PF-20T has tubes. I like them both but if I was gigging small clubs and pubs I would take the VR due to the extra wattage, but for playing at home or recording I would use the PF-20T. For me the PF-20T is better for recording due to its transformer balanced line out. I can get nice clean tones but also better tube warmth/breakup akin to a B-15.
Cheers, volume won't be an issue as I'm very happy with my main band stuff amp. Perhaps valve is the way to go to get the clairty/quality .
do you like tweeters on your bass amps?
if yes, Warwick BC80 is very nice.
if not, a Rumble 100 will get you there.
I actually got rid of both, but still have my TC BG250-115 for larger events. for my home practice a Double Four is enough small, enough loud and enough good sounding. I do miss my Warwick combo sometimes, but not that much.
Ah! I just replied to your question about hiss from the output stage of your BC80, asking you if the problem was resolved. So was the ultimate resolution getting rid of the thing?
